Domain Management redux
Earlier we spoke about revisiting the Domain Management user interface on Autobahn. As part of that effort we ran a small survey in order to find out what functionality you thought was most important to properly manage your domain names.
Domain name management is not always a straight forward task, but it doesn’t have to be a difficult task. In order to figure out how our customers interacted with their domain names we asked you a few key things, namely:
- How many domain names do you generally manage?
- What are the most commonly performed tasks on the domain names that you manage?
A layout mockup (image) was shown in order to better illustrate the concepts and how they might be surfaced in a user interface (UI). We then collected the feedback and applied it to a new UI.
The following is a prototype of the Domain Management UI. It illustrates the functionality that, according to the survey results, you most commonly interact with in order to properly manage your domain names.

(Please click on the image for a full-sized view.)
This image is strictly for demonstration purposes only. There are obviously items in this example that a simple image isn’t going to be able to fully convey. For instance, the icons that are available under the column heading “Available Features” will have a tooltip (a type of “pop-up” explanation) that expands when your mouse hovers over the image. (The icons from left to right are: Lock Registration, Private Registration, Email and Auto Renewal)
A comprehensive set of “Help” files, covering the application as a whole, will be accessible via the question mark icon in the upper right.
Enough jibber jabber though, what we’d like you to do is take a look at the above example and give us any top-of-mind feedback that you might have by posting a comment below.
Thank you for your time and interest in Verio!

any plans to add an interface for the end client to use for managing domains?
c lachina,
I’m checking on an answer and will get right back to you.

c lachina,
Currently the only accounts that receive the domain management functionality are the Autobahn / Mistro accounts. Extending that functionality to our resellers’ end-users and other clients who have accounts through Nimbus (Backroom) is a topic of current debate.
I will keep you abreast of the situation should a change occur or appear imminent.
